Bomba rice is an exceptional short-grain rice known for its high starch content and dry texture. It is considered a premium rice because it requires much time, energy, and expertise to grow and produces a low yield. Our Bomba rice comes from Calasparra, a natural enclave where river water flows fresh and cold, creating the ideal climate for the rice to grow. The grain, which is round and hard, dries out considerably during its slow maturation. This allows it to absorb more liquid and flavor during cooking without losing its structure. Because the risk of overcooking Bomba rice is very low, it is perfect for paella and other rice dishes.
