We are proud to announce that twenty-seven cheeses from our catalog won awards at the annual World Cheese Awards in Trondheim, Norway. A total of twenty-two of our suppliers from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, and Switzerland brought home awards ranging from Bronze to Super Gold.
The most prolific World Cheese Awards to date, 4,502 entries were judged in a single day on October 27. They represented 43 nations at the awards this year, and were assessed by appearance, texture, aroma, and flavor by 264 judges who are cheese professionals around the world. Competitions like the World Cheese Awards help elevate small artisan producers and bring an internationally recognized seal of approval to winners.
Among our major winners are Fior d’Arancio, an Italian blue cheese soaked in sweet wine, El Abuelo Ruperto, a farmstead raw sheep’s milk cheese from Murcia, Spain, Maxorata Curado with Pimentón, a traditional goat cheese from the Canary Islands, and KM39, a golden long-aged cow’s milk cheese from the region of Galicia, Spain. We are known for our unique, varied, and high-quality selection of cheeses and we work closely with our suppliers to curate their catalog to showcase the best of the countries from which we import and develop new products for the U.S. market.
